Butterfly Lifers at Finmere Wood

A trip to the woods in Bucks produced some amazing butterfly sightings , and with the help of Veteran Dennis, I clocked up 3 lifers! - WHITE ADMIRAL, PURPLE EMPEROR and SILVER WASHED FRITILLARY.

A bonus lifer at Rudyard Ressie, Staffs on a long weekend break with my Denz - we were heading out for the day via Carsington Water when this beauty popped up - lifer # 278 , a very striking 
CASPIAN TERN .

Thames stroll produces year tick #174

A stroll down the Thames at Spnning after staying at the lovely Bull Pub, produced a female MANDARIN DUCK #174. Also a kingfisher dashed by, a family of Wrens, Buzzard, Yellowhammer and Skylark calling. Plenty of butterflies including Red Admiral, Gatekeeper, Large White, a small Skipper, Speckled Wood, and a Comma. Some dragonflies as yet unidentified.

More Nightjars in the woods

Another trip to the woods - this time near the car park - and another nightjar ... Not out till very dark but quite showy. No luck spotting it amongst acres of land surprise surprise..

A late evening visit to Crowthorne in the hope of some migrant action - and just as it got dark NIGHTJAR started churning and then one flew around me - fantastic views!
Also two WOODCOCK flew across the night sky
Will return will bigger camera!

World Lifer in Mainz

A trip to Frankfurt and the Atrium Hotel just outside Mainz - a SERIN showing nicely along with Redstart, Linnet, Buzzard amongst others

Serin in Germany
