Great Missenden family walk

A lovely day so we took a walk around Great Missenden. Very low flying RED KITE but very little else - a great walk though and quite a potential for birds when spring really kicks in

A trip over to the lake with Anna, Harry, Jen and John - best bird sighing was a flock of GOLDEN PLOVER

Redpolls and Siskins on the close feeders

Over the weekend the feeders were very busy - with the SISKINS and the LESSER REDPOLLS (yes - NOT Linnet!)
One of the Siskins sat in the caged feeder for about 5 mins chilling out and having a feed now and then.

Quality birding from the bedroom hide!

Clear sight of the barring on the wing

Lesser Redpoll - nice poll!

A few shots enjoying the sunflower seeds

This little chap perched here for around 5 mins!

Another new Granville garden tick

Looking out the bedroom windows this morning I noticed a different plumaged bird on the top back bird feeders - so with a quick look through the binos there were 3 LESSER REDPOLL (Thanks Lucy for spotting they are NOT Linnet as I previously stated!)  feeding away with the GOLDFINCH, COAL TIT, BLUE TIT and GREAT TIT
The top feeders are certainly bringing in more unusual species - may be time to put up another feeding station along the back of the garden!
Lesser Redpoll - a new edition to the garden list

Nuthatch attacking bird box

Ian tapped on my work window after spotting a NUTHATCH acting very much like a woodpecker - by pecking away at the entrance hole to the bird box.
I managed to get a shot and video via iphone and through my very small and pretty rubbish work based binos.

Good spot Ian!
